All-Inclusive Holidays Reimagined At Curtain Bluff – Resort Review
Pioneers of all-inclusive hospitality in Antigua since 1962, Curtain Bluff wrote the commandments on how to nail resort life, delivering decadence, comfort and adventure in one harmonious set-price package. But savvy stalwarts recognise the importance of growth and this is one grande dame that is continuing to evolve, capturing the essence of the exclusive all-inclusive trend – no fads attached. Conceived by local legend Howard Hulford and launched in 1962, Curtain Bluff remains privately owned and run by the same family. This independance has allowed the resort to develop and maintain a soul and character of its own, to remain agile in the face of travel trends and to align itself with fundamental guest needs versus ticking corporate boxes or adhering to brand protocols.

4-Day Weekend in Antigua and Barbuda: Sublime Beaches, Hiking Trails, and the Friendliest Folks in the Antilles
You’re in the Caribbean, so a waterfront stay is non-negotiable. In the 1960s, U.S. war fighter pilot Howard Hulford made his vision of paradise a reality here. Oozing old-school cool, this exceedingly comfortable 72-suite, all-inclusive boutique hotel on the southern coast is legendary. Lazing away the day on Curtain Bluff’s palm-tree studded, white sand beach might sound tempting, but ensure you take advantage of the myriad offerings included in the room rate. Sail a Hobie Cat, go water skiing, or join a reef snorkeling trip. The property’s beachside restaurant, The Sea Grape, offers a buffet and à la carte menu featuring local staples like the flavorful, spicy soup known as “goat water.”

I found paradise and it's this beachfront Caribbean hotel
Curtain Bluff may have grown since its inception, but it still retains the warm, familial atmosphere of an independently-owned property that so many blockbuster resorts and hotel chains lack. Hulford died in 2009, but his wife Chelle still lives in a villa perched at the top of the bluff, where she hosts weekly cocktail parties for guests. There's no tipping here; instead, donations are taken for the Old Road Fund charity, funded by Curtain Bluff and its guests, which gives back to the local community through education, healthcare, building repairs and community projects. It's no wonder 65% of Curtain Bluff's guests are repeat visitors, with some coming back every year for more than three decades.

Best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean
The fact that it’s built in the shade of a loose forest of palm trees means that the only disturbances at Curtain Bluff are likely to be coconuts falling on to the cushion-soft golden sand. As well as championing relaxation for adults, this is also a family-friendly resort, with water sports, tennis and crafting classes all tailored for children. Sitting on a promontory, the resort has two beaches with very different temperaments — surf on one side, serenity on the other. Under the same ownership for the past 60 years, rather than grow stagnant, Curtain Bluff has been refined into something very special.

Want to work where summer never ends? Relocate to the Caribbean
When you step onto the sand at Curtain Bluff resort in Antigua and gaze out at the Caribbean Sea, a question comes to mind: Why didn’t you get out of the city sooner?
As you take a gardening class, enjoy an open-air yoga session or perhaps lob a few balls on the tennis court before feasting on crispy crab cakes, another question floats into your sea breeze-dappled brain cells: Can I move here?
The answer is that for some, that island dream is a reality.

Curtain Bluff: An Antiguan idyll of laidback luxury
We’re lingering over coffee and mimosas at breakfast on the shaded terrace of the Tamarind restaurant at Antigua’s Curtain Bluff and, surreptitiously glancing over, I see that he’s not wrong. Said gentleman, who is deep in discussion over the morning’s headlines with his impressively tanned wife, looks right at home – although, as we later discover, this probably has less to do with his age and the location than the fact the couple has been visiting Curtain Bluff each year for more than three decades.
